SPORTS ZONE – DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE

On the occasion of the activities beginning on the new project `Sports zone development of social infrastructure`, implemented by IPA Fund over the neighborhood programme Bulgaria-Serbia in Palilula Municipality-Nis, the first meeting of project teams of two municipalities - Palilula and Berkovica (Bulgaria) took place. 

Boban Dzunic, president of Palilula Municipality and Gergana Antonova, project manager and vice president of Berkovica Municipality, spoke at this meeting. Tomislav Filipov and Katia Ilinova, project coordinators were also present at this promotion on the behalf of Berkovica Municipality and Nikola Bozic, project coordinator and Milos Stojiljkovic, professional consultant from Palilula Municipality. Project `Strengthening territorial cohesion in border region over the development of social infrastructure in sports sphere` is being implemented over the cross-border programme Bulgaria-Serbia within IPA funds with EU financial support. The lasting of the project is 12 months - 2014 -2015. The overall project aim is development of social infrastructure in sport and social inclusion with equal approach to people from ethnic minorities and people with disabilities in Berkovica and Palilula Municipalities. Target groups are young people, students, sports clubs.

Project `Sports zone – development social infrastructure is very significant for the people living in Brekovica emphasized the representatives of this Municipality in Bulgaria. Thanks to cross-border programme Bulgaria-Serbia and IPA fund the people living in Berkovica (20 000 residents) will get sport stadium. It will have two floors, mini football playground, tennis terrain, dress-rooms and showers,  explains the project manager Gergana Antonova, that is in the same time also the vice president of Berkovica municipality. This project of crossborder cooperation is 760,000 Euros from which, for sports adaptation of Nis school, will be 100,000 Euros allocated.

Thanks to the project `Strengthening territorial cohesion in cross-border region over the development of social infrastructure in sports sphere and financial support of EU in Elementary school Branko Miljkovic, settlement Delijski Vis will be constructed scate park, gym in the open and artificial rock – emphasized Boban Dzunic, president of Palilula Municipality. According to him, Palilula recognized the `Cross border programmes` of EU as one possibility for the improvement of connections of local communities and strengthening cultural, social and economic cooperation and promotion of their own potentials in the Region, specially Bulgaria. In former period, Palilula Municipality realized partnerships and projects with Bulgarian cities- Svoge, Custendil, Bobov Dol, Botevgrad and this new project with Berkovica Municipality. Apart from construction of sports objects in two cities, the project has also social component. As it was announced at the first press conference, within the project activities 30 children from Palilula territory will visit Berkovica and pupils from Berkovica in Bulgaria will return visit to Palilula.
